There’s no excuse for any ‘so-called leader’ to abuse their employees. None!
Transparency can’t just be a tactic… It has to be a core value that’s consistently followed.
It happens all too often that bosses view employees as lesser beings who can be degraded without conscience; that employees view their bosses as tyrants to be toppled; and that peers view one another as enemy combatants.
The biggest impediment to flow, to better outcomes, might be in behavioral norms, leadership, finance, HR, PMO, real estate, governance committees, and so on.
If there’s a chance that the very process of measuring results might drive the wrong behavior, then be sure to faithfully measure the actions you need to produce those results as well.
When motivation is middling, people will do a behavior only if it’s fairly easy…
If you openly share some things, but hide others, credibility will suffer. Your team will always wonder what you’re not sharing.
